SHERRY LANSING TO RECEIVE HUMANITARIAN AWARD
Century City Rotary Club Gala Honors Former Studio Chief Turned Philanthropist
Century City, May 27, 2008 -- The Rotary Club of Century City is presenting its humanitarian award to Sherry Lansing on May 29th at a gala banquet in the Los Angeles Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.
Lansing is receiving the Century City Rotary Club’s Humanitarian Award, not only for her trailblazing work in the film industry but for her post-Hollywood commitment to philanthropy that led her to create The Sherry Lansing Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to cancer research, education, art and culture.
The gala banquet is the annual fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Century City and is attended by elected officials and leaders the business community as well as the entertainment industry. Entertainment for the evening includes the Circus Vargas. The event starts at 7pm. Presentation to Lansing will take place at 8:30pm.
The award will be memorialized the next day at 2:00 pm at a curbside presentation on the Avenue of the Stars where a bronze plaque will be dedicated to be placed in the sidewalk along with the current plan by the city to "green" Century City. The plaque will recognize Lansing as the 2008 “Service Above Self” honoree.
